Materials and Structure
PS wall panels are primarily composed of polystyrene (PS) and are formed through extrusion or molding processes. Their internal structure is typically solid or micro-foamed. While lightweight and low in density, they possess sufficient rigidity and dimensional stability, classifying them as a quintessential lightweight plastic decorative material.
Physical Properties
PS wall panels exhibit excellent moisture resistance and water repellency; their low water absorption rate ensures they are unlikely to swell or develop mold when exposed to humid environments. Additionally, they offer a certain degree of impact resistance; however, compared to PVC or high-density boards, their heat resistance is moderate, and slight deformation may occur under prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
Applications and Functionality
In interior design, PS wall panels are primarily utilized for wall cladding and decoration. They serve to aesthetically enhance a space, conceal underlying wall imperfections, and elevate the overall visual texture. Their surfaces can be finished with wood grain, stone grain, or solid color patterns, offering a blend of decorative appeal and practical utility suitable for residential, commercial, and public spaces.
Processing and Installation Characteristics
PS wall panels demonstrate excellent processability, allowing for easy cutting, splicing, adhesive bonding, or interlocking installation, thereby ensuring a relatively simple construction process. The material possesses moderate flexibility, making it adaptable to various wall structures; however, it is not designed for load-bearing applications and is intended primarily for use as a decorative cladding material.
