The Core Structure Of PS Skirting

The core structure of a PS skirting board primarily comprises a base substrate, a functional reinforcement layer, and a decorative surface layer; each component serves a distinct purpose, ensuring a harmonious balance between structural strength, aesthetic appeal, and practical utility.

At the foundation lies the PS substrate layer, composed primarily of polystyrene and formed via extrusion molding to create the skirting board's main structural framework. This component dictates the product's overall dimensional stability and fundamental hardness, while also influencing its resistance to deformation, serving as the structural core that supports the entire skirting board.

Typically, a functional reinforcement structure-such as an internal microporous matrix or an enhanced material formulation-is applied atop the substrate. This serves to boost impact resistance and toughness, thereby rendering the skirting board less susceptible to damage or cracking during everyday bumps and impacts. Furthermore, some products feature design elements on the reverse side-such as mounting slots or reinforcing ribs-to enhance stability against the wall and facilitate ease of installation.

The outermost layer is the decorative surface layer, which is typically treated using processes such as thermal transfer printing, lamination, or surface coating to replicate the appearance of wood grain, stone textures, or solid colors. This layer not only determines the visual aesthetic but also provides a degree of resistance to abrasion and staining, ensuring that the skirting board retains its pristine appearance even after prolonged use.
