Base Materials
PS (Polystyrene) is a general-purpose thermoplastic known for its excellent rigidity and dimensional stability, making it highly suitable for extrusion molding. It is inherently lightweight-weighing only about one-third as much as wooden or stone skirting boards-which facilitates easy handling and installation.
Modification and Reinforcement
To enhance impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and anti-aging properties, toughening agents, fillers, or antioxidants are typically incorporated during the manufacturing of PS skirting boards. These modifying additives make the skirting boards more resilient against bumps and knocks during daily use, preventing cracking or deformation while simultaneously extending their service life.
Surface Decorative Layer
Following the molding process, the surface of PS skirting boards is often treated using techniques such as thermal transfer printing, lamination, or spray coating to achieve various decorative effects-including wood grain, stone textures, and solid colors. This surface layer not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also improves abrasion resistance as well as water and stain repellency, ensuring that the skirting boards maintain a clean appearance and a high-quality finish throughout years of use.
